NORTH CHIOS TOUR :THREE WINDMILLS-HOMER STONE (DASKALOPETRA)-LAGKADA-KARDAMYLA

1. Three Windmill

Our north Chios tour starts from “Deniz tours” office (Neoreion 33, Port of Chios). Our first stop will be Three Windmills area, close to the city center. During the late 19th century and early 20th century these windmills were a part of the local industrial production of leather products. Nowadays, these windmills are a beautiful landscape, which you can enjoy during our tour.

2. Daskalopetra (Homer stone)

During our second stop we will visit Daskalopetra (Homer stone). The area is named after Homer, who according to tradition used to teach his students in the area. The famous archaeological site of Homer’s stone is connected to the great poet of Iliad and Odyssey and it lies a few meters above the seaside. In the area you can find a beautiful beach, a picturesque small port, restaurants and cafeterias.

3. Lagada

Our third stop is Lagada, a small village located on a bay. The village is amphitheatrically built and it has an amazing natural beauty combined with the sea. We are going to have free time to walk through the village and enjoy traditional food, fresh fishes and other delicacies in one of the seaside taverns. The view from there is magnificent!

4. Kardamyla

Our next stop is Kardamyla village. It is one of the biggest villages of the island, with a population of approximately 2000 people, and it is divided into two parts: the upper (old) village at the feet of a steep hill with traditional architecture, narrow streets and cobblestone alleys combined with many arches and bridges and the lower village, called Marmaro, which is built in the inner part of the bay. You can see many beautiful mansions which are built there by many ship-owners of local origin. In the area you can find a variety of traditional restaurants and cafeterias, especially during summer. The area has many delightful beaches; Nagos and Yiosonas are considered the most beautiful ones.

In the afternoon we return to Chios town.
